When Hollywood misrepresents your job
I bristle at Hollywood portrayals of the advertising business. Movies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and The Out-of-Towners (the 1999 one with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin) suggest that advertising consists of thinking up a line. A lame line at that, like “Frost yourself” or “Only in New York,” respectively. Advertising isn’t alone. When Hollywood portrays any job, people who really do that job roll their eyes and moan, “That’s not how it is.” So I was delighted when I stumbled upon a bit of clickbait, courtesy of Bored Panda, entitled “People Are Sharing Hilariously Bad Stock Photos Of Their Jobs, And You’ll Laugh Out Loud When You Find Yours.” I am equally delighted to share it with you. |
