Business-to-business prospecting by email isn’t easy. Brains see your name and say, “I don’t know you. Goodbye.” They see your subject line and say, “No way.” That’s assuming, of course, that you manage to get past filters standing at the ready to block you, and that you have good names and addresses to begin with. Neither of which is a safe assumption.
But sometimes a decision-maker actually starts reading. Now what? If you’re inept, you write something smarmy, wimpy or gushingly over-the-top, ensuring yourself a permanent place in a spam file.
Yesterday I received a b-to-b prospecting email that was refreshingly good. Honest, believable and real. A nice change from the usual verbal flatulence. Here it is in its entirety. See if Brenna keeps you reading as she did me.

I know what you’re thinking—a salutation like that can only mean one thing… mass-e-mail-cold-sales-‘call’-press-delete. But wait! You’ll have to forgive the impersonal nature of an e-mail, but I wanted to reach out to you at The Response Agency using a digital method (you’ll see why, below)…
My name is Brenna MacPherson and I am the Production Manager at Geomedia, Inc. We are a turnkey production and post-production house located in San Antonio, Texas. Yes, I said Texas. We don’t all wear cowboy boots. And not everyone can pull off a white Stetson cowboy hat. But what some of us, myself included, lack in outward, physical “Texas Pride” (I prefer sneakers to boots), I like to think we make up for in pride for what we do. Here’s the thing. We like to play in every department. We’ve got a 2-ton Grip & Electric truck. We like to view our subjects through the eye of the RED One Camera. We use 35mm Zeiss super speed film lenses, which, while shooting at 4K, allow for incredible, versatile digital moving images that might just blow your mind….just sayin’. Throw in a talented in-house post-production team, add an award-winning 3D and 2D animation department, and you round out a results-driven (and proven) team….Oh yeah, and we also happen to be a whole lot of fun to work with. We think so, anyway.
From developing and animating a 3D character for a traditional TV commercial, to shooting live action HD or film for theatrical distribution, to creating video content for mobile devices, Geomedia is your production partner with over 16 years of experience doing what we do.
