I just received a call from a salesperson who opened with what was for sale, followed by, “I’m calling to see if you’re interested.” I said, “You know, I get a couple of these calls a week. What I need to know is—”
I was about to ask a question to give her a fair chance at showing whether her company was different from the ones I turn down. But she cut me off, with, “Sir, the question requires a yes or no. Are you interested or not?”
In one of those rare moments in which I was rendered speechless, I sat silent, mouth agape. And she hung up.
I doubt she racks up too many sales.
